Definition: Poems with two lines next to each other that rhymes.
Example:
On a Sea-Storm Nigh the Coast
The weighty seas are rowled from the deeps
In mighty heaps,
And from the rocks' foundations do arise
To kiss the skies.
Richard Steere

To kiss the skies.
Richard Steere
Significance: We use couplet as another type of rhyming poetry. It is easy for the reader to recognize the rhymes within the lines.
